Welcome to GUMC Preschool!

Welcome to the 2025-26 school year! Our school theme this year is: Find Joy in the Little Things
It is based on Philippians 4:8, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” By dwelling on these things, we can shift our focus away from negativity and the bad things happening in the world, towards God’s blessings and the good things that are happening. This intentional focus on the positive is a means to experience joy and peace, even amidst challenging circumstances. It is worth noting that the message, contained in this excerpt from the apostle Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi, was written during his imprisonment in Rome, yet reflects Paul's joy and affection for the church despite his circumstances. The verse is his encouragement to cultivate a joyful attitude and focus on things that promote inner peace and unity. At GUMC Preschool, we want to follow Paul’s lead in cultivating joy, knowing that that the early education of a child has a significant impact on their social-emotional well-being, and setting them on the path to finding God’s purpose for their life. We want to emphasize the importance of teaching Godly values, habits, and thoughts to the children in our care, and we feel honored to take a part in that responsibility. By modeling a loving environment and teaching them to focus on the things that are excellent and worthy of praise, we as teachers are creating a caring classroom community and cultivating joy. Young children who learn gratitude by recognizing and appreciating the good things in their lives, and develop meaningful relationships by treating others with kindness and respect, will carry these values and make positive impacts - becoming catalysts for joy beyond the classroom walls. Thank you for trusting us with the earliest education of your child. We are truly blessed to… …find joy in the little things. Kim Wissman Director |
